Opportunity Zones and Healthy Communities: Maui

The event will begin with an overview of Opportunity Zones, a new federal tax incentive designed to attract long-term private investment and stimulate economic growth in disadvantaged areas across the country—including neighborhoods in Maui County. The incentive offers tax benefits to individuals and businesses when they invest capital gains from a prior investment into Opportunity Funds that deploy capital into designated zones.
The second half of the event will explore the potential for the health and community development sectors to work together in securing a healthier future for all residents of Maui. This “Healthy Communities” discussion will include local and national examples of how public, private, and nonprofit partners are aligning their efforts to ensure that every neighborhood is a place of health and opportunity.
There is no cost to attend this event, but advance registration by February 15th is requested.
